Jesse Oliver is a Perth performance poet who is best known for his casual conversational style. In 2017, he appeared on national platforms including the National Young Writers Festival, the Emerging Writers Festival, the Digital Writers Festival and the Word Travels Australian Poetry Slam. In 2018, Jesse has already launched his sold-out Rap/Poetry show Star-Crossed at Perth Fringe World, planning an international tour and will be returning to the National Young Writers Festival in his new role as Co-Director.
For Jesse, writing and performing poetry has always played a significant role in supporting him through difficult times. But now, he wants to use his words to open a discussion about his lived experiences of homelessness, gender transition and mental illness. Jesse is the reigning Australian Poetry Slam Champion for 2017/2018.
