Maddie Godfrey is a Perth-bred writer, poet, feminist and spoken word educator who aims to facilitate compassionate conversations about social issues. At 23, they have performed poetry at The Sydney Opera House, The Royal Albert Hall, Glastonbury Festival (2017), The Blue Room Theatre, TEDxWomen and St Paul’s Cathedral in London. Best described as "a poetry fireball", Maddie will share a vibrant and evocative spoken word performance. More...

Mama Red and the Dark Blues

Mama Red & the Dark takes audiences on a musical journey to Hades via Lost Love Canyon, Near Miss Alley and Shotgun Street – bringing them out feeling like they’ve ridden a thousand miles on a horse named Sorrow, but lived to tell the tale. The band's vocal harmonies enthrall audiences and the cleverly subversive lyrics and sophisticated country/blues-infused music never fails to thrill.

The Baden Street Singers

The award-winning Baden Street Singers are a dynamic vocal group with a passion for all things a cappella, from barbershop, to ballads, to beat boxing. Despite their relative youth, they’ve built a reputation on their strong vocal talent, captivating stage presence, and bold artistic vision. They can be found headlining choral concerts, festivals, competitions and community outreach programs around Perth - don't miss your chance to see the hottest a cappella group in town!

The Lost Quays are a vocal group based in the port of Fremantle, Western Australia. Formed in 2015, our crew sings largely a cappella but with some guitar, mandolin and accordion. We perform with energy and good humour, and relish a strong audience connection. As well as traditional material, and nautical folk material from around the world, our repertoire contains original songs, including local Australian tales.

The Merry Din 7

The Merry Din 7 was formed to perform at the 2018 Merredin Songfest and enjoyed singing together so much that they kept going. Members are stalwarts of other Perth choirs who are willing and able to be vulnerable and carry a part alone. They are known for their well-balanced harmonies (and snappy dress sense!) and enjoy singing mostly pop and folk, with the occasional tidbit of classical and other genres thrown in, just to keep things interesting.

Out of Season are excited to be back to showcase their gorgeous harmonies and instrumentals that have surprised and delighted both themselves and audiences since their debut performance at last year's festival. The multi-faceted Summerhouse spin-off will deliver an assortment of their individual favourites from any musical genre imaginable, accompanied by as many combinations of diverse musical instruments they can fit into the arrangements!

Born and raised in Perth Mark found a passion for performance in his early years. It was a love of theatre that encouraged him to study theatre, film and television at university including a year of study as a drama teacher. After the birth of his two children, Mark found a great love for children’s books and so decided to start writing. With a couple of books under his belt, he now tours and performs his stories to children throughout the country.

Daniel Hansen is a 28 year old Nyoongar writer from Armadale, Perth. A father of three Daniel began writing poems when he was young and fell in love with Hip Hop. After studying Tupac's outlook on poetry, writing and expression of self he was able to refine his craft. Writing has helped him through a lot of hard times. Daniel incorporates his experience and belief in spirit and dreamtime into his writing.

Voices of the South Coast

Lowlands Beach Community Choir

The Lowlands Community Choir welcomes everyone to experience the simple joy of singing in community. Formed in 2008, this group offers inexperienced singers a safe place to gain vocal confidence with support from each other and direction from facilitator Jude Iddison. Members of the choir have discovered that to sing in three or four part harmony is a gift much richer and longer lasting than sound.

Brenda Chapman & Lara Norman

Brenda artfully delivers her heartfelt storytelling with big soulful vocals, evocative lyrics and hauntingly beautiful guitar. She has been referred to as ‘The Queen of the Chorus' for her captivating original melodies. Lara adds her exquisite vocal harmonies and wistful violin. As a duo, their evocative sound is like rich dark velvet, with a hint of wandering gypsy and a fresh twist of humour.

Dawn Barrington

Denmark WA based Dawn Barrington is a contemporary folk rock singer songwriter with a social conscience. She is well known for her activism in human rights and the environment within her community and her carefully crafted songs reflect that. She is passionate about life and loves to take her audience on the journey. Dawn spends a lot of time on the road and in addition to playing locally, tours have reached across Western Australia and the Eastern States.

Mary Jayne & the Smoke Detectors

Colourful grooves from the Smoke Detectors combine keyboard/synth with bass cello/electric guitar and solid drumbeats, provide an atmospheric backdrop for the uplifting flute and mesmerising vocals of Mary Jayne. Songs evolved from concepts and creative jams combine influences of electro, dub, Celtic, lounge funk and world folk music with mystical tales and elemental inspiration from across the great southern. A magical, moving, hypnotic listening experience.

Adam Grok is a singer/songwriter, guitarist, percussionist and lover of life, bringing a mix of ambient blues and smooth roots to your table for digestion. With a mixture of earthy organic originals and tastefully reworked covers, the flow of the sound changes to suit the environment, from super chilled to rhythmic & resonant. Live perfomances draw on experiential practices in yoga & the healing arts to produce a soothing tone designed to connect and uplift listeners of all walks of life.

Chris Edmondson

Chris Edmondson would like to think he needs no introduction, but the truth is he’s not very famous. He’s also not very rich. Having said that, his ability to tell a tale and engage an audience with very little other than an acoustic guitar is well worth a look & a listen. Chris’s songs are often about people just like you & the lives lived beyond the last set of traffic lights as you exit the end of any city.

Matthew Cull is a singer songwriter based in Denmark with an engaging Alt folk style. His warm, inviting voice and emotive guitar work aims to draw you in with tales of the heart and soul. Having played the Denmark Festival of Voice, Brave New Works, Nannup Music Festival and a variety of venues in the Great Southern he is establishing himself as a storyteller with an engaging live show.

Midlife Critics

In yet another incarnation of midlife harmony, Louise Duxbury and Simon Neville (Archipelago, Los Car Keys) have joined with Peter Usher (Los Car Keys, Across the Bridge, + the Global Pandemic). They will play around with some beautiful and meaningful songs, combining awesome vocal harmonies with sparse instrumentals and a fair bit of off-beat humour. Feeling jaded, sad, tired of life? Lyndal Gallaway

Lyndal draws from her 40 years of teaching and personal practice. Her approach combines mindfulness and co-ordination of the breath, core, alignment, bandha in creative flow sequences, yin poses, mantra, mudra, meditation & energy medicine. She will guide us in gathering our Qi (Chi) life force to relax, release, re-energize & open body/heart & mind, enhancing the joyful celebration of this wonderful weekend in Denmark.
