Sukhjit Kaur Khalsa is a spoken word artist, workshop facilitator, actor, producer, MC & human rights reformer. Her work has been hailed as ‘nation building’ on prime time television. This fiery first generation Australian Sikh storyteller is currently based in Melbourne, yet her message has led her to adventure across the globe.
She is passionate about the performing arts and inherently merges her advocacy background with the arts. Her writing predominantly surrounds stories of the Sikh diaspora, family, cultural confusions, and gender. She is still discovering the art form of slam poetry and experimenting with style and content which she continues to perform to a wide range of audiences.
Within a short period, Sukhjit has gone from being a participant in the Australian Poetry Slam Competition in 2014 to gracing the stage of Australia’s Got Talent, and most recently a speaker at the TedxUWA. She has performed with notable/renowned artists such as Missy Higgins and L-FRESH the Lion and has her own digital platform, ‘Contemporary Kaur’ on Youtube. Her performances and workshops have led her to travel to the USA, Canada, UK and South East Asia, as well as across our very own nation
