Csokolom play folk music from Transsylvania, adding varied musical ingredients but focussing on the timeless beauty of traditional hungarian and romanian folk songs and the powerful melancholy of the gypsy songs from that area, providing translations, lots of humour and spontaneous interaction with the audience.
Anti von Klewitz is a violin player who masters a variety of musical styles. She is a singer and composer/arranger and improviser with a distinct, original approach, and has a real charisma as a performer. Having grown up on the Balcans she has in the past focussed strongly on Eastern European music.
The Csokolom Banda is the Australian branch of the internationally renowned World Music Band Csokolom, which has released several albums with the label Arhoolie in California, played festivals fom Poland to Pakistan, from Australia to the U.S. and whose music has been used in movies and documentarys, it performs in Australia as a trio: violin, vocals, guitar and double bass.
